At the night of Feb. 11, Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Zhou Qiang and Governor of Hunan Province Xu Shousheng met with Zhang Ping, director of the National Development and Reform Committee (NDRC) and his delegation in Zhuzhou.

Secretary Zhou thanked the NDRC for its long-standing support to Hunan. He stated that since Hunan has grasped such major opportunities as the national macro-control policy orientation and regional development strategy, the province witnessed a steady and rapid growth in its economy, steady undergoing in the "Two-Oriented" Society construction, and coordinated development in regional economy. In addition, Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan City Cluster, southern Hunan and Great Xiangxi (West Hunan Area) have been listed in the regional development strategy promulgated by the country. Mr. Zhou hoped that NDRC would give more guidance and support to Hunan in terms of promoting the construction of "Two-Oriented" Society, improving the ability of independent innovation, and enhancing energy security.

Director Zhang remarked that Hunan faces unprecedented opportunities in its future development. He promised that NDRC will do well in coordination and service, make concerted efforts with Hunan, and further support Hunan to seize the major strategic opportunity, thus to realize sound and rapid development.
